Printing Policy
- B&W printing:
Black and white copies are available to students for $.10/page on either 11 x 17” or 8.5 x 11” paper. Students are NOT allowed to load custom papers. Free printing is allowed only for print assignments which are initiated and due during the SAME class period. No exceptions. If a student has not completed the printing portion of his/her assignment by a due date for normal assignments spanning more than one class period, the responsibility is still on the student to pay for the print job. - Color Printing:
Color printing is available only in high-end inket prints. The lab does NOT support inexpensive laser color print output. The majority of color prints are handled through classroom printing, as part of Graphic Design or Multimedia courses. Individual jobs can be printed, though, as long as students check to see what the turn-around time is before assuming that the lab is the best choice for the job.
Color prints are printed on Epson Premium Lustre paper and are $.04/square inch. These are the equivalents of traditional film color processed photos you might get from a photo studio. The target resolution of image files is 360ppi/dpi, and we only accept the following file types: jpg, tiff. The only monitors we keep color calibrated for our Epson printer(s) are the 20" Apple Cinema Displays, and to be certain you are getting the right color, you must make sure the display is set to the correct color setting in the System Preferences. Please ask a labtech for the most updated color profile to use.
For detailed instructions on how to prepare your files for our color printer, please refer to our Color Printing FAQ page or download the PDF on it.
